A pamphlet of the Halifax South Parade Methodist circuit for August 1879 has Henry Edmunds listed under Ministers and local preachers. Henry must have been a lay preacher as he was not ordained. (ref Calderdale Central Library Boxfile 287 Methodist/Wesleyan General).
He was the leader of a class of 24 who met on Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm.

According to family folklore, the informant of Henry's death was a Mr. Milne, related to the owners of Kendal Milnes department store in Manchester, now part of House of Fraser Group. This has since been disproved as the informant was Alfred Stert Milne, his son in law.
After retirement, Henry and Sarah Edmunds went to live at South Bank, in Cheadle. James Milne was a very close neighbour and may have been present at the death as they were friends.
The will went to probate on 16th Nov,1904 and the gross value of the estate was just £300.16.0d

The Temple of Mithras was discovered during the excavation together with the Bucklersbury Pavement now in the Museum of London.

Mary Hatton is described as 'widow of Joseph Hatton, Commercial traveller' on her death certificate. Her step-son, William, was present at the death, which appears to have been from a stroke.
