Pritchard and Edmunds Family History
Halifax Family Graves |
The condition of Annie Edmunds grave(nee Wayman) in Stoney Royd cemetery was extremely poor when I first visited in July,2003. Following a family discussion it was felt that we should declare an interest in the grave and it has since been restored. We will be visiting Halifax in May 2004-2007 and are looking forward to taking a new photo in it's restored state.
The photos of the graves in Lightcliffe were taken by Kim Craven of Grave Relations and permission was given to include them here.
The Parish Church of St.Matthew's Lightcliffe This site shows a photo of the old church of St.Matthew's. All that remains now is the tower as seen below. The new St.Matthew's was consecrated in 1875.
The old St Matthews graveyard is directly opposite The Sun Inn on Wakefield Road in Lightcliffe. There is a bus stop right next to it too. When you enter the graveyard there is a pathway leading up to the clock tower. Most of the gravestones are actually laid flat on the ground like paving slabs only a few remain standing. Walk up the path towards the clock tower. When you get to the end of the paved area the HATTON graves are just to your right, laid flat on the ground.
Transcription of some of the grave stones can be found at Halifax Family Grave transcriptions
